This season, we are delighted to collaborate with artist, writer and botanical set designer, Rollo Skinner, founder of Studio Rollo. In Focus: A Pair of Silver and Glass Claret Jugs by Storr
Among the silver featured in the Fine Decorative Art sale are two silver-mounted glass claret jugs, by the silversmith Paul Storr, England's most celebrated silversmith during the first half of the 19th century.
The first silver-mounted glass claret jugs appeared in London during the 1830s, the claret jugs on offer here with hallmarks for London 1838 are rare early desirable examples. Paul Storr always at the forefront of fashion developed the design of the claret jug, here incorporating vine leaves ang grapes and handles of intertwined stems in a naturalistic form, showing Storr's great workmanship with fine detailing in the design.
Also featured in this sale is the monumental Victorian centrepiece known as the Morrell trophy, this was presented to James Morrell, owner of Morrell's brewery company of Oxford, presented to Morrell as master of The Old Berkshire Hunt, it depicts a vibrant hunting scene, modelled by Royal goldsmiths Robert Garrand in 1858.

Rollo Skinner's Floral Odyssey
Rollo Skinner is an artist and botanical designer for the ages. With a grounding in classical floristry, his techniques marry a deep understanding of the natural world and the sculptural forms it can produce, with a contemporary approach to objects and interiors. His practice, which includes set design, writing and illustration, has seen him collaborate with brands such as Gucci, Barbour, Acqua di Parma and Soho House.
Bonhams has invited Skinner to reinterpret The Classics winter 2025 edition. His floral interventions bring life to pieces from across an exceptional series of auctions. Through Skinner's designs, we usher in the holiday season as the home, family and celebration take centre stage.
A Life in Ceramics: The Peter and Mary White Collection
Visiting the home of Peter and Mary White is like being in an immensely comfortable, but well stocked, small museum. Their extraordinary collection of over 3000 ceramic objects is mostly exhibited in purpose-built display areas in order not to overwhelm their daily life.
Unlike most collections it is not a homage to any particular specialism, apart from the enduring story of the development of ceramics and how they were traded. After over a half a century of collecting, key elements of their passion will go on sale at Bonhams in several separate sales, under the title A Life in Ceramics: The Peter and Mary White Collection.
