Jean Cocteau et l’Atelier Madeline-Jolly :
une amitié sans faille
A unique collection celebrating Jean Cocteau and the Madeline-Jolly workshop
Bonhams is delighted to present an exceptional collection of ceramics and drawings by Jean Cocteau in Paris this September, a natural continuation of the highly successful sales ‘Jean Cocteau: The Modern Orpheus’ in 2021 and ‘An Important collection of Jean Cocteau Ceramics’ in 2019.
Coming directly from the Atelier Madeline-Jolly, the artworks in the auction are a testament to the friendship between Marie Madeline-Jolly, Philippe Madeline and Jean Cocteau at the end of the 1950s. Together in the Madeline-Jolly workshop, the three artists created a unique process to transform Cocteau's drawings into mesmerising ceramics. A selection of highlights - including original ceramics alongside their preparatory drawings - will be shown in London New Bond Street between 25 and 29 June, ahead of the sale preview which will take place in Paris between 23 and 29 September.
