Vietnamese Lacquer: the Golden Hands of Artists
Vietnam’s debut at the 61st Venice Biennale marks a defining moment for the country’s cultural presence on the global stage. Among the ten artists selected for this first national pavilion is Bui Huu Hung, a figure whose career embodies both the heritage and the evolution of Vietnamese lacquer.
Ahead of the upcoming Vietnamese Art Online which will feature several of Bui Huu Hung's lacquer works, Joan Yip, Bonham's International Specialist, sat down with the artist to discuss his journey with lacquer painting.
