Fred Eversley is one of the most important artists to shape Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. His work continues to be a marvel of creativity and engineering - seamless in its beauty and effect on the viewer – after 50 years of devotion to Venice and the community. I absolutely love the delight and wonder that comes from standing in front of one of his creations.

Lot 194. Mia Weiner, Fragment 01, 2024. Estimate: $4,600 - 6,500.
Mia Weiner’s intricate tapestries are mesmerizing. The questions that she poses through the imagery created in this delicate ‘women’s’ work are provocative and complex. The piece is timely, but also speaks to important through lines from historic to contemporary life and culture.

Lot 134. A Platinum and Diamond Ring. Estimate: $35,000 - $55,000.
Being a lover of the great tradition of Assemblage in California Contemporary Art, I was thrilled to see Alex Emmons x Georgia’s Caterpillar Bench. The humorous undercurrents of this piece along with the artists’ skillful craftsmanship bridge the gap between art and design making it one of my personal favorites in the auction.

Lot 3. Lita Albuquerque, Man and the Mountain II, 1979/2023. Estimate: $7,000 - 9,000.
A founding member of the Venice Art Walk, Lita Albuquerque is such an influential figure in the Los Angeles art scene and beyond; I have been a fan her work for decades. I greatly appreciate the breadth of her practice and the reminder through her work that we are a small part of a very large universe that is full of mystery and wonder. It is thrilling, beautiful, and thought provoking.
Lot 69
Sayre Gomez, Untitled, 2024
Lot 69. Sayre Gomez, Untitled, 2024. Estimate: $20,000 - 30,000.
Lot 69. Sayre Gomez, Untitled, 2024. Estimate: $20,000 - 30,000.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget the first time I saw Sayre Gomez’s paintings. I was floored by the tremendous skill on display, and impressed by his ability to convey so much dimensionality and complexity in seemingly banal subjects. Something we may drive by everyday becomes funny or melancholic or magical in Sayre’s hands. Untitled from 2024 is a perfect example of that transformation.
